Join us for an hour-long lunchtime insight into the world of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives in the culture and media sectors. This session is ideal for anyone working in arts, culture and media in Scotland and explores women’s lived experiences of EDI initiatives and how we can improve so that women no longer bear the burden of this essential work.
Culture funding: where are we now?
On Monday 11 October, the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee published their scrutiny of the culture portfolio ahead of the Scottish Government’s 2025-26 budget. Over 50 Scottish organisations in the arts and culture sector contributed their views as evidence for the committee – including us at EMCC. You can read our contribution – which advocates for integrating gender budget analysis throughout Scotland’s budget and revenue-raising processes – here.
EMCC Responds to Culture Budget Protests with Open Letter
The Equal Media and Culture Centre for Scotland are deeply concerned by the recent events surrounding the sudden closure of Creative Scotland’s Open Fund for Individuals. The funding body took action to close the Open Fund due to a lack of clarity from the Scottish Government regarding £6.6m in funding allocated to the funder.
